According to the latest report from the Austin Board of Realtors (ABOR), the real estate market in Austin continues to thrive despite the ongoing pandemic. The report for April shows a significant increase in home sales compared to last year, with a total of 3,604 homes sold during the month.

The median price for single-family homes also saw a notable rise, reaching $442,500 which is a 34.3% increase from the same time last year. Additionally, the number of active listings decreased by 73.1% compared to April 2020, indicating a strong demand for housing in the Austin area.

The president of ABOR, Susan Horton, attributes this strong performance to low mortgage rates and a growing number of people relocating to Austin from other cities. She also emphasized the importance of addressing housing affordability issues to ensure that the market remains accessible to all residents.
