A San Diego travel agent has been sentenced to home detention after admitting to embezzling thousands of dollars meant for school trips.

According to authorities, the travel agent, Dawn Bloom, was accused of pocketing money that parents had paid for their children’s school trips. Bloom pleaded guilty to embezzling over $67,000 and was sentenced to six months of home detention and five years of probation.

The embezzlement came to light when parents noticed discrepancies in their payments and alerted the authorities. Bloom’s attorney claimed that she had financial problems and used the money to pay bills.

The judge emphasized the seriousness of the crime, stating that the victims were children who had been looking forward to their school trips. Bloom was ordered to pay restitution to the parents affected by her actions.
