The NC State baseball team secured a thrilling 17-12 victory over Hawaii in the opening game of their series on Friday. The Wolfpack displayed a powerful offense, totaling 17 runs on 19 hits against the Rainbow Warriors.

NC State jumped out to an early lead, scoring 10 runs in the first three innings. However, Hawaii fought back, tying the game at 12-12 in the fifth inning. The Wolfpack responded with five runs in the final two innings to seal the win.

Designated hitter Tyler McDonough led the offensive onslaught for NC State, going 4-for-6 with four RBIs and three runs scored. Catcher Luca Tresh also had a big game, going 3-for-5 with a home run and four RBIs.

On the mound, starting pitcher Matt Willadsen struggled, giving up seven runs in just 1.2 innings of work. However, the Wolfpack bullpen held strong, with reliever Evan Justice earning the win after tossing 3.1 scoreless innings.

With the victory, NC State improved to 5-1 on the season. The Wolfpack will look to continue their winning ways in the second game of the series against Hawaii on Saturday.
