Citing the incident as a potential violation of state rules, the Hawaii Department of Land and Natural Resources said Sunday it is investigating reports that a cruise ship sailed too close to shore off Kauai’s Na Pali Coast.

해안 경비대에 따르면 지난 주 토요일에 일어난 이 사건은 카우아이 지역 주민들과 관광객들 사이에서 큰 논란을 불러일으켰다. 주변 지역을 탐방하는 크루즈여행객들은 이번 사건이 지역의 풍부한 자연환경을 위협했다고 주장했다.

The DLNR said the incident, which occurred last Saturday, has sparked controversy among Kauai residents and tourists exploring the area. Cruise ship passengers exploring the area claim the incident threatened the region’s rich natural environment.

Kauai’s mayor told a local broadcaster over the weekend that news coverage of the issue should not be about “rich people’s art, but about respecting the waters that local residents hold in esteem” and that cruise lines should respect that.
