A man, identified as Carl Williams, was seen swinging a golf club at people along a San Francisco pier before jumping into the bay on Friday morning. Witnesses reported seeing Williams swinging the golf club at individuals near the Ferry Building before he eventually jumped into the chilly waters of the bay.

Police responded to the scene and were able to take Williams into custody. It is unclear what led to the man’s erratic behavior. Thankfully, no one was injured during the incident.

Williams is currently facing charges for assault and is undergoing a mental health evaluation. The incident has left residents and visitors to the popular pier area shaken. Authorities are reminding the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious behavior to law enforcement.
